Peggy Jane Cazara, Colver, Age 97, passed away on Jan. 8, 2025 at St. Benedict Manor. Born May 8, 1928 in Colver. Daughter of the late Thomas and Bessie (Love) Vay. She married Benjamin Cazara on Nov. 23, 1950. Preceded in death by parents, husband and these brothers and sisters, George, Thomas, Belle, Betty, Louis, Jack, Marylou, and Donald. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by her children, Connie wife of Robert Datsko, Darlene wife of Lenny Mastrine, Lisa wife of Dave Wesley and Lora wife of Brian Bracken all of Ebensburg. Her grandchildren, Ellen (Keith) Trasko; Paul (Jennie) Datsko; Sara (Bobby Noel) & Julie Mastrine; Amy (Jake) Giesel; Benjamin and Emily Wesley; Jill (Ty) Gilkey and Leah Bracken, and also her great grandchildren, Claire and Adam Trasko. In the late 1940’s Peggy worked at the Colver Soda Grille. She was a member of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality, Colver Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. VFW Auxiliary Post 4963 Ebensburg and former member of Catholic Daughters of America Court 680, Ebensburg. Peggy was happiest when she was taking care of her family and home. She was a wonderful cook and baker, her specialties were homemade bread and homemade Italian dishes. Her house was often a gathering place for family and friends especially when a ball game was on or for a homecooked Italian Sunday meal. Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family and her yearly trips to Ocean City, MD. The family would like to thank the staff at St Benedict Manor and 365 Hospice for their Kindness and care. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home Ebensburg are in charge of arrangements. Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Cambria County Humane Society in Peggy’s memory.
