Sonia Radelbach Obituary

Sonia Katherine Dickson Reidelbach passed away peacefully on December 18 after a heroic three-year battle with colon cancer. Sonia was born in Spangler Hospital on March 9, 1945 and lived in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. Sonia was delightfully creative and lots of fun in many ways. She was an award-winning artist and created many colorful and charming paintings, fabric assemblages, and art work in many other media. Sonia was a long term member of the Cambria County Historical Society, a veteran of numerous Sprit Night skits, an annual volunteer for Arts in Bloom, and a former member of the Red Hat Club. Until retirement, she was a ward clerk at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center in Altoona. Everybody loved Sonia, and she was the heart of the family. She was preceded in death by father Ted Dickson and mothers Mary Stinson Dickson and Jean Butch Dickson., sisters Lois Collins and Joann Hanrahan, sister Cecee Ryan, and brother Bobby Shea. Sonia was a loving wife to Frank “Rip” Reidelbach for 56 years, mother to Erika (Richard) Hough, and Oma to grandson Ian Hough. She is survived by sister Patty Wirfel, of Ohio, sister Peggy Woodburn, nieces Sonia (Lee) Amos and Monique LaRock, and great-niece Stella LaRock, all of Wisconsin, and many more nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from Noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Matevish and Matevish Funeral  Home Ebensburg. Funeral Mass Thursday at 3 p.m. at Holy Name Church, Ebensburg. Rev Brian Warchola.
