Sylvia L. (Hott) Sonneborn, age 81, entered into rest peacefully on June 1, 2024. She was a loving mother and will be greatly missed by her son  Patshal W. Landis and his wife Lisa S. (McFatridge) Landis and grandson William E. Landis.

Sylvia is the daughter of Coy Elga and Elizabeth (Krise) Hott, formerly of Ebensburg, Cambria, PA.

Survived by Barbara (Jones), wife of the late Gerald Hott. Surviving siblings are Mary L. Hutchison of Huntsville, MO; Gail Hott Prave (companion of Mark Piljay) of Johnstown, PA; Nancy Lynne (Daniel O'Hara) of Wright, WY.

Sylvia is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a newspaper reporter for the local York newspapers and the church for ten years. She has served as a family history consultant at the York Family History Center for almost 25 years. She served a service mission for the York I Ward of her church. Sylvia was a technician for the online program, which is now named Family Search.

Sylvia's love of genealogy led her to continue Granny Hott and Aunt Elenor's work on family history. She was pleased to receive a letter from the LDS church thanking her for the family history she had completed for 10's of thousands of souls in our family and others.

Sylvia taught English three years at Dallastown Area High School and 35 years at Eastern High School.
